The Watson Family of Withernwick

The Watson's were farmers and the family lived in Withernwick
for at least 100 years.

We know little about them but we do have these wonderful photos
of three generations of them.

The photo on the right is of John Watson (born 1796).
It dates from about 1860 and as such is one of the
oldest photos that we have on the website.
He does look to be dressed as a reasonably wealthy man.

He would have probably drunk in the Old Gate pub on High Street
and would therefore have known the then Inn Keeper - Henry Wallis
and may well have got his horses reshod by Barrington Webster.
