Church Lane c 1900
A lovely Summer view of Church Lane c 1900, it shows the cottages that stood where the new houses are. The family nearest to us are the Harsleys - Annie Elizabeth and James Webster (the sign on the house tells us he a cobbler) their children are (l to r) Stanley, Hubert and Walter. The family in the middle are the Barkers - near the door is Bertha (nee Harsley), the girl standing is Lillian, the taller boy is William and the other Clarence, the girl in the middle is unknown. The end couple are very unclear but could be Jane Harsley (nee Webster, James Webster's mother) and Thirza Harsley. Click here to read census detaials of the people in the photo.
