These are the same cottages shown in the view of Church Lane in the 1970's
when they were derelict - click here
The people are the Harsley family probably James and Annie Harsley who lived at
no 4 (the left hand house).
The old lady is probably Jane Harsley who also lived in Church Lane and was
James' mother and lived at no 3 (the house with the open door).
The name James Harsley Shoe Repairer can just be made out on the sign on the left of the
cottages (no 4).
Bertha Barker (nee Harsley) another of Jane's children lived at no 2 with her
husband William.
