Two photographs of the old Wesleyan chapel at the start of High Street - Late
1970's or 1980's.
At this time it was the workshop of builder Arthur Young. Arthur built his own
house next door (to the right).
In the right of the photo can be seen Elifra (the next house to Arthur's) Arthur
also built this one.
Just before Arthur retired he demolished the chapel and used the bricks to build
the present house on the site - Chapel Bricks.
Going further back in time, Arthur Wray lived in the first of the old cottages
and he used the chapel for storage,
he was a carrier to Hull in the early part of the 20th century, we do have
photos of his daughter Gladys - click here.
He also owned the land opposite where Beauphord now stands and used it as a
paddock, presumably for his wagon horses.
