The date of the threatened closure was 12th April 1965. 
A Mr Power called the head to say that the Education Committee had decided on closure ASAP and the pupils would be sent to Hornsea Primary school.
After some protest on the 20th October 1965, it was decided that since Withernwick was a growing village that the school would not close for the time being.
Mrs Cherry is Mary Cherry the husband of John Cherry who was the son of Mrs Cherry.
Mrs A Harsley is probably Mrs A E Harlsey, who's son Arthur is named on the village War Memorial - click here.
