Two views of St Alban's Church c 1980.

The building has not changed at all but the the surroundings have.

In the above photograph to the right is the entrance to the blacksmiths yard. This was probably not working at this time but the industrial nature of the site remained. The black shed was Mrs Skelton's wash house (she and Wilf lived in the end but one cottage), she had an electric washer but a hand wringer.
The building at the back was part of Wilf Skelton's blacksmith's; in part he stored iron, part was for arc-welding and part to store his car.

The trees are very much smaller, it is not now possible to get such a clear view of the church from this angle, especially in the summer.

Same goes for the bottom photograph, the view from this direction today is fairly clear in the winter but impossible in the summer.
