Tanton Terrace c 1918

A wonderfully evocative view of Tanton Terrace near the end of World War 1
On the horse are Cedric and Roland Harsley (Cedric at the front), they are the children of Hubert Harsley (leaning on the fence) and
Ivy (nee England, in the doorway with Stanley Harsley.
Hubert worked at Whitedale station for all his working life evetually becoming the signal man - click here to see Hubert in later life.
The people nearest to us are most likely the Tanton family (presumably where the name of the terrace comes from)
the woman in the gateway is probably Edith (a dress maker), no idea about the other lady in the doorway.
We may find out more when the 1921 census comes online.
