A photograph and Newspaper article from 1976 Mr Chris Tomlinson came to Withernwick from his home in Kenilworth, Warwickshire specially to visit Mrs Ivy Gowthorpe of High Street with whom he was evacuated as a young boy during the last war. With the exception of one call on Mrs Gowthorpe and her husband in 1953 when he was working for a spell in the garage at Mappleton, they had not been in touch since the War. Since his return to England after a spell in Canada, he married and has a 13 year old daughter. He is an engineer with the Chrysler Motor works in Coventry. To show his appreciation to Mrs Gowthorpe he brought her a box of chocolates. Sadly the man in the photo with Ivy is not Chris.
