The Falcon Corner c 1905
A lovely old photo of the Falcon corner c 1905 taken from an old postcard.
The view has changed somewhat, the Falcon is, of course, still there along with
the Old White House (in the distance and no longer white)
and Lorne Terrace (number 4 is in the view and 1-3 have railings presumably
removed during WW2.
The corner that is just visible on the right are the cottages on High Street
where Renhart and Elifra now stand.
The chapel, obviously still in use in the photo, later became Arthur Young's
workshop, he demolished it in the 1980's and built Chapel Bricks using the old
bricks - click here to see the chapel in the
1980's..
the white building on the left was later owned by the Ellis family (not the same
family that ran the shop), they ran a fish and chip shop from there and also
repaired bicycles.
