George Hewson's Inauguration as Vicar of St Alban's 1940

This photo shows the inauguraion of George Hewson as Vicar of St Alban's in 1940.
He remained vicar until, click here to see a photo of him in 1955.
The photo is taken outside St Alban's and he obviously had quite a gathering of dignitries with him.
The man to George's right wearing the spectacles may well be William Temple, the Archbishop of York.
This photo was supplied courtesy of Alex Slingsby.
